Does Everyone Have An Agenda?

Worked on paperback files, some tweaking after I discovered a new trick. Now I look more like everyone else. Yay! Right. That’s what it’s all about, right? Looking like everyone one else.

Until they start reading the words inside and they find out that you’re not quite like everyone else. You start making them uncomfortable. You’re filling them with ideas and politics. You have an agenda. They throw your book across the room and write a horrible review about you.

Or they really dig it and buy the next one.

Whatever.

But yeah. Those are the times we live in. You hear the way people talk. The key words.

“The Conservative Agenda.”

“The Liberal Agenda.”

Or Democratic or Republic or whatever.

Y2K did bring the end of times but it wasn’t with a meteor or a total system crash. It was a clash of culture. It was with a black president that brought out the Aryan Movement. It was the biggest recession that revealed who was in power. It was the people that are just so fucking tired of it all.

Out with the old and in with the new.

But it’s not easy because the old doesn’t want to go so easy.

So yeah, people talk funny these days. Talk like they’re in some movie or in a dystopian novel. I’m used to it. I grew up watching that shit. Mad Max films and Warriors of the Wasteland and Solar Babies (haha) and what have you. I read all the books before like Fahrenheit 451, 1984, Handmaids Tale, etc. You would think that sales for these books would go down because people would need a break from real life but I see that they have been going up (here and here). I guess people need how to books to get along in this world.

How much of this shit can you take? Fiction has become reality

When shit started going down after the last election I wasn’t so surprised like others. I have been seeing the world like that all my life. I was happy. Finally, I was validated.

But you know what? They story isn’t new. Don’t get mad at Trumpians when they say that Trump didn’t start this. Yeah, he did start this, this shit that is going on NOW, but a lot of it has happened before. Government has always treated non whites like shit. Yeah, whites are treated bad, but most white people are sheep. You see the symbolism don’t you. White people = white sheep. Sheep take it. They’re submissive. Ready for slaughter. Easily led to food.

Look at history. It goes through phases. Some presidents are worse than others. We’re going through the worse right now. He’s even got his own language and world. It’s brilliant. And dangerous. But the people who follow him have always been here. Always. They were here since the beginning of the country. Shit. Since the start of the world.

Hate never dies.

Hate has an agenda.

So does love.

Medical Torture For Something There Is No Cure For

Finished the edits on the collection, which is now called A Sandwich Can’t Stop a Bullet. It’s pulled from one of the shorts inside. Hopefully the title is catchy and noir enough. I still have time to change it.

Also wrote the publishing history page for the previously pubbed shorts. Just have to do some more formatting on the front matter and do the cover.

Also fixed that category matter at Nook.

Kindle flagged another titled for copyright verification. Sent them my standard letter of ownership and I guess I’ll hear back from them in a few days. Shit’s getting crazy but I guess this is how the world runs these days. I did experience the plagiarism once before.

Went to M’s moving on ceremony today. It was sweet. She was so excited to have Neen and I there. Over heard the teachers gushing over M’s reactions to us. They really love her and will miss her next year when she moves on to kindergarten.

Neurotribes continues to be an interesting. Read a chapter where a couple dealt with their son’s autism during the anti-vaccination craze. She followed the cult of D.A.N. and used strict diets and pills for her son. Some of the diets did help but most made him miserable.

They became obsessed with ridding the metals from their child’s body in order to cure him of autism. She didn’t do anything extreme but she researched many methods like chelation therapy, hugging therapy, and skull marrow massaging-something.

The parents finally came to their senses, finally saw their son’s misery and decided to put him first, when the doctor pushed for chelation, the process of filtering the mercury out of the blood even though it was at a low level.

They then turned to ABA therapy and their son learned, over time, to take care of himself and to live with his autism. They learned to accept him.

Glad that this craze is not so strong now. At least I don’t see it too much myself. I do see it from time to time online. I just can’t imagine parents doing these horrible, abusive things to their children. Medical torture for the sake of curing them of something that there is no cure for. Freaks me out.

Now I’m up to Asperger and his school for kids.

Do Your Job, Homicidal

Little work on The Collection. This rate I can be done editing by next week.

Completed some house projects I’ve been putting off because of the novel.

Summer is looming and the kids will be out soon. Finally vacation and can leave the city.

Finished Homicidal. Liked it a lot. Ripped off Psycho at the end but I did not see it coming. If I see it on DVD I’ll pick it up for my collection.

Thought about some short stories I wanted to write, in and out of the Tenebrous Chronicles. Maybe I can get to them this summer. That had always been my plan.

Although my brain is busy thinking about the world, if I type it out I would only be repeating myself. Not that many people read this blog anyway. I’ll try to think of something new tomorrow.

But I will leave you with this observation:

Conservatives say to the football player: Do your job and stand for the national anthem.

Liberals say to the baker: Do your job and bake the wedding cake.

Is it no wonder we live in a two party tyranny?

Cake

Worked on The Collection for a bit.

Voted for Senator.

Squeezed in stuff around the house.

Started watching William Castle’s Homicidal. Starts off pretty good. Great first reel. Surprised how gory it was. I’ll have to finish it tomorrow.

The war between the Libs and the Cons wages on. The latest upset with the Supreme Court Ruling dealing with the baker not wanting to make a wedding cake for the gay couple. Memes on both side are already out to blur the truth and make one side bash the other. Short video clips of truth will come out to embarrass and shame each side.

I don’t see what the hub bub is about. If a baker was an anti vaccer and didn’t want to make my wedding cake but still would sell me anything, including a plain cake, I would just find someone else to do it.

If a Christian publisher came to me and asked me to write a book celebrating the best abortion murders committed by pro-lifers, I would turn it down not only for my religious but ethical beliefs as well. Sure, I might write another subject for them, but not that one.

(Note: I am not a Christian but I can write anything for money)

The Christian publisher can sue me to the Supreme court. What if we were in a Lib world and they won based on the Baker case? Then I have to write it. So the government says I have no religious freedom to exercise my art.

But it’s not about religious freedom? It’s about not serving two gay men?

Maybe the baker was the only one in town, or the best one in town.

Which reality do I live in today?

Always Trust Your Agent, Not

Little revising on Cities That Eat Islands and I’m done. Started this draft at 80,000 words. After cutting, pasting, and writing, I’m left with a 83,500 word novel.

I’m happy with it. It’s a good part one to a trilogy. I’m geared up for part two, which I hope to start in September when the kids go back to school. Maybe if all goes well I can start in August.

As usual, part two is big in my head and I have many directions like I did with the first one but since I never work with an outline and I just write as I go based on cause and affect…

I’ll just try to keep my head blank on plot for the next few months and write my ideas down in the little green book as I get them.

Snuck some computer work in.

Read an interesting blog post from Chuck Palahniuk one of the authors ripped off from the major and prestigious literary agencies out there today. Always trust the great old agent as they say. You poor writers.

Watched the 3rd part of Arthur. I enjoyed it. Fairly complex plot for a family movie. Good edition to my Besson collection.

Free speech is at war again. Both sides are in battle. I think. I don’t know. Everyone has an agenda. Everyone wants to control someone. What do I know.

Weird and Oppressive

More revisions on Cities That Eat Islands. Tomorrow I should be done.

Started watching Part 2 of Luc Besson’s Arthur and the Invisibles. Part 1 was pretty good, which I saw earlier this year. Part leads right into part 3 so I have that to look forward to tomorrow. So far I’m enjoying the mix of live action and animation. It plays like a family version of his other films (Fifth Element or Valarian). A lot of funny lines and stints.

D’s bully situation is somewhat getting better. Although they are not to be in contact with each other, the little monster is talking behind his back and gathering others against him.

I did some research and found out that indeed (as he brags to the girls to score cool points) he is related to a local author by the name of L. Skurnick in Jersey City. Classy. Hopefully, his father who met with school officials today, will make a difference. If not then off to the Bully Councilor. And if that doesn’t work, to the Devil herself.

The internet is still ablaze about what is racism and the Barr tweet and using it to get The View off of ABC. Although I could care less past my artistic disappointment, I just think that biological hate is a much stronger offence than ideological hate. And racist jokes from blacks to whites are funny and okay since, hey, they only been free since the 60s. They have the right to blow off a little steam and we are weird and oppressive.

Anyway. It’s been a bit confusing for me and making people really angry or really mediocre.

Hopefully it will die down soon.

But probably not.

They Always Get What’s Coming To Them

Finished this week’s editing goal for Cities That Eat Islands. Next week is the last week on the novel.

Snuck some computer work on the store.

Celebrated my 15 year wedding anniversary with Neen. Were supposed to go to FM at Noon but turned out they didn’t open until 1PM. Considering the time limit with the kids getting out from school, we went to Barcade instead. The food was good. We had a nice time as you can see from the pictures on the right.

Been rereading Hardshell AKA Night Visions 4. A collection with Dean Koontz, Edward Bryant, and Robert McCammon. An oldy from 1987. Still pretty good. The Koontz stories are in his traditional form, but the last one is different; first person and spiritual. Perfect for short story experimentation.

Son and I got some great news from school. His teacher is getting heart surgery. He should be out for a while. I’m hoping the rest of the year. I’m shocked. I didn’t think he had a heart. Yeah, he loves his highest grade students to the point where he acts like a pedophile but that’s not the same thing.

Oh, and speaking of sick fucks getting what they deserve.

Officials: Weinstein to surrender in sexual misconduct probe

So yeah, let’s home this guy finally gets what’s coming to him too.
